“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

So, Yes, I did it again. I created another set of crosses. Well, I’m still in the midst of creating them. I do have four done and ready. You can find them on More specific at

I able to create 9 more crosses by cutting down all the parts which is no small order. Then went through and sanded them all down. I wanted to go in for the details, like rounding some parts off, and I did. This made the process take a bit longer then I expected.

Once I had them all sanded it was down to staining. I used a PolyShades Bombay Mahogany Gloss Stain and Polyurethane in 1-Step for the dark pieces. It looks great but in the end, I still wanted another coat of clear to give it a better shine look. I also used a Golden Pecan Stain for the medium lighter tone used for the middle pieces.

The top cross and the small sides are meant to be white, except the first cross I put clear polyurethane on them and they became golden a bit. So, three out of four of them, I left the top crosses alone; only clear coating from there down. I think I like that better.

Anyways, I’m going to finish these up and get them up on Etsy.

Check it out if you’re interested. Here the Etsy Shop!

Until next time!

I think people who are creative are more prone to desire solitude and that’s ok. 🙂

Carve & Draw

…though at times I feel a bit guilty for wanting…no, needing, solitude. Without solitude I would be a nervous wreck for too much stimulation and social interaction fries my nerves and exhausts my energy. Solitude is a necessity for me. It’s how I recuperate, regenerate and create. Yet I always feel a tinge of guilt whenever I pass on a social gathering. It’s not that I don’t like socializing, I just don’t need it as often or to a great intensity as others may need. Fortunately being an artist gives me an excuse to spend time in solitude but I wonder, are people who are creative more prone to desire solitude or are those who have a natural disposition for solitude more likely to develop creative pursuits?

So, for Christmas I have been known to create gifts for others. Well, I made these as gifts for the fam for Christmas.

It went over really well and I got a lot of “you should try to make more and sell”.

I thought about it and I did have a lot of fun making them, so… Here I go again on making another set of ten. If i do make a sell, it will be his will, not mine. Tho, it will not stop me from trying to help him out. Lol

This is what i did this weekend. I still got a lot to do but hey, it feel good working this process out.

I literally drew these in 3D using SketchUp online. Got my measurements and a plan laid out. It’s always good to get a good idea of what your going to do before hand, plus, it was fun.

I’ll keep posting my progress so check back later.

Still got details, sanding, staining and assembly to do on this set. So, it might be a minute. Lol.

Anyways, have a good week everyone.

My son’s has this art project due tomorrow and I thought to share it. He’s just 14 but I can see a bit of me in his passion for art. He did a great job.
